The supply fee allows us to purchase supplies for our biannual Enrichment Days, Christmas and End-of-Year celebrations, and offsets the costs associated with supplies for classes.
Introduction to Latin I (Prima Latina text/workbook) $625/yr.
Prima Latina is a gentle introduction to Latin for the youngest students. High frequency, intuitive Latin vocabulary, the first declension, the first conjugation and the irregular verb sum are taught along with four prayers. Students must be able to read and write. Grades 2 or 3 recommended.
Introduction to Latin II (Latina Christiana text/workbook) $625/yr.
The perfect step up from Prima Latina or a gentle introduction to Latin for younger students. The first and second declensions are taught along with 1st/2nd declensions adjectives. Students will finish the year knowing more than 250 Latin vocabulary words! Grades 3 or 4 recommended.
Primary Latin I (First Form Latin text and workbook) $650/yr.
First Form Latin is a foundational course for anyone who seeks to learn Latin. Students learn all five declensions along with the present and perfect systems of the first two conjugations and the irregular verb, sum. Appropriate for Grades 4 and above with the prerequisite of Latina Christiana or equivalent.
Primary Latin II (Second Form Latin text and workbook) – PRIVATE TUTORING ONLY
Students learn all five declensions and all four conjugations in the active and passive voices along with 1st/2nd Declension Adjectives, pronouns, prepositions with the ablative and accusative, question words, and adverbs. Prerequisite: First Form Latin or equivalent. Magistra Christine Vergare
Primary Latin III (Third Form Latin text and workbook) – PRIVATE TUTORING ONLY
Third Form Latin reviews all four conjugations and adds the perfect system, passive voice. All five declensions are reviewed, as well. The subjunctive and imperative moods of verbs are learned in full along with adjectives, adverbs, numbers, and demonstrative and reflexive pronouns. A great deal of emphasis is placed on translating sentences and short stories. Prerequisite: Second Form Latin or equivalent.
Primary Latin IV (Fourth Form Latin with Henle textbooks and workbook) – PRIVATE TUTORING ONLY
Prerequisite: Third Form Latin or equivalent. Stjudents complete the Henle I textbook and review all previously learned material. Relative and indefinite pronouns, deponent verbs, irregular verbs, participles, gerunds, and gerundives are also learned. A significant portion of this course is mastering translation skills, syntax, and idioms. Each week, students will translate paragraphs of text and will be prepared to read Latin authors once the course is completed.
Lingua Latina per se Illustrata: Pars I: Familia Romana Capitula I – XIII (LLPSI textbook et al.) – PRIVATE TUTORING ONLY
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Third or Fourth Form Latin or the equivalent. Lingua Latina per se Illustrata: Familia Romana follows the story of a second century A.D. Roman family. The text is entirely in Latin with marginal notes in Latin to explain key concepts. Students will encounter and understand approximately 600 words. Orberg’s Lingua Latina per se Illustrata is the most popular method for learning Latin via the natural method, thereby enabling students to read and think in Latin. This is the first part of a three-part course. After completing Lingua Latina per se Illustrata,: Familia Romana, students will be reading at an intermediate level and be ready to read Latin texts written by classical authors.
